Sit back and take notes while we… talk about Supernote. This note-taking app quietly debuted on the
Eee Pad Transformer and
Slider earlier this month, when ASUS rolled out an
OTA update to Android 3.2.1, but the company has now provided substantially more details on the feature, which promises to “revolutionize the way you take notes in class.” With Supernote onboard, students can write or scribble using either the keyboard or their own fingers. That isn’t exactly enthralling, in and of itself, but what’s cool is the fact that Supernote will convert each hand-drawn item into an image, allowing users to seamlessly modify or delete their own characters as if they were typed text. The tool also makes it easy to insert graphs or charts, thanks to an “Add Annotation” option that integrates diagrams directly into your lecture notes. And, perhaps best of all, the app will even let you insert photos, meaning you can just take a shot of your professor’s blackboard and worry about understanding it later. Intrigued? We’re not sure how much longer it’ll be before the tiny fraction of Americans that can take advantage of AT&T’s LTE network will actually be able to put the HTC Holiday in their hands, but we imagine it won’t be too much longer. It looks like the dual-core super-phone just stopped by the FCC to have its radio checked out, and we’re happy to report the PH39100 came out unscathed. Though photos and specific branding were missing from the filing, we’re pretty confident that this 1700/2100/700 LTE device from HTC is, in fact, the Holiday. We’re also certain that Ma Bell is working like mad to get this 4.5-inch beast out the door real soon. Federal Communications Commission, and came out unscathed
and with some decent diagrams that actually show off the tablet in a somewhat flattering manner. The version seen going through the FCC is most likely a 16GB WiFi-only version, as no mention of wireless bands could be found. Whether or not it’ll hit US shores is an uncertainty, as passage through the government doesn’t guarantee it’ll actually be sold here, but the Galaxy Tab series has already had plenty of time to pick up a popularity point or two.

The GPS gurus over at Garmin have just launched the aera 796 and 795 — a pair of new navigation devices designed specifically for pilots who don’t enjoy getting lost. As the flagship member of the aera family, the 796 sports a seven-inch, 480 x 800 capacitive touchscreen (capable of displaying maps in either landscape or portrait mode) and features Garmin’s 3D Vision technology, providing users with a behind-the-plane view of the terrain below, including rivers, landing strips or any other obstacles. This knee-mounted co-pilot can also serve as an electronic flight bag, allowing captains to digitally store flight routes and airport diagrams directly on their devices. Plus, if it’s hooked up to a compatible GPS system, the 796 can provide real-time traffic updates, while streaming SiriusXM radio straight to the cockpit (the North America-specific 795 features identical specs, minus XM compatibility).
