IBM and Samsung have announced a new partnership with a goal to expand research into new semiconductor materials, manufacturing processes and other technologies. The collaboration will mainly be focusing on semiconductors for a wide range of potential applications, such as smartphones or communications infrastructure.

The new agreement has been said to review the companies’ existing joint process development agreement (JDA) that focuses on 20nm technology. Hopefully this collaboration means that we’ll be seeing cooler gadgets and smartphones being produced in the near future.
