So far the appcessories — yeah we said it, APPcessories — we’ve seen include some good ideas, and some less so. The Bluetooth LE 3D-Sport and Weather offerings from Mosoro fall into the former category (if they make their way into a shipping product that is). The 3D-Sport is a motion capture device you attach to sports equipment. The on-board accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer beam motion data to your iOS device, where it can be analyzed by Rocky-style Russian coaches to see where your throw or golf swing is going wrong. The latter is a mini weather station that reads temperature, humidity, elevation, and barometric pressure to tell you the conditions where you are right now. More usefully, it nabs your GPS location and uploads it all to Mosoro’s aptly named “Cloud” Server that presumably maps out some crazy real-time crowdsourced weather report. Both also use Bluetooth 4.0′s low energy technology so they won’t need to see a charger for a long time. Now we just need a company that likes collating personal data, perhaps with a weather service, to snap this one up… any takers?

We already knew that New Jersey was a hotbed for personal audio innovation, so it certainly came as no surprise when the Garden State’s ECKOUNLTD (Ecko Unlimited, with a hint of Jersey Shore) hit us up with a slew of new stylz. We’re most curious about the new Zip ‘buds, which replace the traditional cord with a functioning zipper, presumably to keep that ever-so-prevalent tangling issue from crampin’ your style. These in-ear beauts will set you back just 30 beans — or about a half-dozen servings of Ron Ron Juice. Other offerings include the $13 Zone earbuds, $15 Chaos II (that Chaos I was off the hook), the $20 Stomp, $25 Lace (which include a shoelace-inspired cord), and the $40 Chain, which, as you probably guessed, features a beaded dog-tag chain cord. At those prices we wouldn’t expect stellar acoustics, but if you’re rockin’ out to any of these budz, you’re probably most concerned with lookin’ good. And nothing says six-pack like zippers and chains.

Jack Spade iPad Folio (Images courtesy Jack Spade)
By Andrew Liszewski

Jack Spade, makers of some of the cleanest yet functional messenger bags you can buy, have applied their design aesthetics to yet another iPad Folio case. Like other offerings it allows you to prop your iPad up for hands-free viewing, and use it in a portrait or landscape orientation, but it includes a strategic cutout on the back making it compatible with an iPad dock. There’s also a couple of thin pockets on the inside of the flap for stashing documents or even your sync cable. At $69.95 you’re probably paying a bit of a premium for the ‘Jack Spake’ patch on the front, but I have no doubts you’re also getting a very well-made and high-quality folio.
