Best Buy, Target, Walmart, The Shack, Apple. All of the above are now proudly selling the Square credit card reader, according to a tweet sent out by CEO Jack Dorsey. It’s great news for anyone willing to shell out a ten-spot in order to conduct business from their iOS device right away, rather than waiting between two and five days for a free one to show up in the mail. If you need one today, you’d best be calling up your local retail outlet to make sure they have some in stock.

Square makes a larger mark on the brick-and-mortar scene, available in more outlets originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 24 Oct 2011 13:46:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Tree-Mobil… sorry, T-Mobile and Walmart are offering up an exclusive “No Annual Contract” deal for commitment-phobic customers who want to get 4G mobile data. The $30 a month Monthly4G plan gives you unlimited mobile data, with the first 5GB coming down through America’s so-called largest 4G network. After you pass that limit, your data shuffles down at 2G speeds. You also get unlimited text messages and 100 included minutes of talk, but you’re probably more interested at getting at that data, aren’t you? The service will be available from October 16th, to coincide with Walmart swelling its range of budget T-Mob handsets to six, including its first pre-paid 4G handset. After the break we’ve got some official looking words, neatly arranged into a press release.

The Swedish-designed Penclic Mouse has already been making the rounds in Europe for a little while, but it looks like it’s now finally ready to make the jump to North America. While there’s still no firm word on pricing or availability, Prestige International has confirmed that it will be bringing the device to both the US and Canada, where it will be available at Best Buy, Walmart and other major retailers. As you can probably surmise, the device itself is quite literally a combination pen / mouse (the two pieces remain attached), which the company says provides a “relaxed working position and advanced precision.” As in Europe, the device will be available in both wired and wireless versions, and it’s Mac and PC compatible. Check out the gallery below for a closer look.

If you haven’t heard of the Sharp FX Plus, you must not be the type to troll the halls of your local Walmart. The phone went on sale there a few weeks back, and a PCD rep just confirmed it’ll soon venture outside Walmart’s massive aisles, hitting select AT&T stores by the end of the month. We spotted it tonight as we were wandering around a New York City media event. There it was, sitting on a lone table, overshadowed by the likes of the HTC Thunderbolt and Incredible 2. Alas, the device on hand wasn’t active, so we didn’t get to peek the software / performance, but hit the break for some quickie impressions of just how much hardware this free phone’ll get you.

It seems like only yesterday that Walmart was doing its best to beat Apple at the digital music game by delivering us DRM-free digital music. Alas, the inexorable might of iTunes has, at last, become too much to bear. According to Digital Music News, Wally World’s MP3 store will shut its digital doors forever on August 28th. Chin up, Walmart, we won’t be coming to you for the new Kanye jam (not that we ever did), but we’ll still head on down when we’re in need of damn near anything else.

Well friends, if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the 8″ Vizio tab (and don’t live near a Costco), your time has come. The company announced today that its slate has begun shipping to retailers nationwide including Sam’s, Walmart and Amazon. The Android tablet is now priced at $299, a $30 drop from our last retail sighting — and just in time to entice those of you heading back to school in search of a new piece of tech to play with during that history lecture. Or perhaps you just want to kick it like Blake Griffin… don’t worry, we won’t judge you. Besides, what else do you need for your dorm room other than an integrated universal remote to queue up all those Lord of the Rings marathons?

Walmart and Vudu

Roughly 18 months after plunking down the cash for Vudu, Walmart has finally made the streaming media service an integrated part of its web store. Fans of digital video can now stop by the discount retailer’s site and rent flicks for between $1 and $5.99 or purchase them $4.99 and up. The service compliments Walmart’s sizable physical media library with over 20,000 titles that can be played directly from the website, as well as on Vudu-enabled devices like connected TVs, Blu-ray players, and steaming media boxes such as the Boxee Box. If you’re a fan of companies tooting their own horn, check out the PR after the break.

Pew pew. Those are the sounds we instantly hear whenever we come across Motorola’s Photon 4G. Sadly, the soon-to-be dual-core star of Sprint’s smartphone lineup won’t come pre-loaded with a laser soundboard on July 31st, but it can be pre-ordered now — for a significant markdown. All it takes is a quick internetting trip to either Wirefly or Walmart, where this WiMAX handset’s up for a $20 – $40 discount. It’s not a massive price chop on par with free, but it should move some yellow-tinged operator inventory. If walking the straight and narrow’s your bag, you could still always opt for the direct carrier two-year contract option — but why? Hit the source to get yourself in line for this cut-rate beast.

Typically, the whole fun of spotting products in the wild is that they haven’t been officially announced to the world yet, but in the case of the Acer Iconia Tab A100, we’re just amazed it’s finally here, and that it’s so… unassuming. Just weeks after rearing its head in FCC drawings, the delayed Tab has quietly surfaced at Walmart with a price tag of $349. That sticker there says it all, but for the money you’ll get Tegra 2 innards with 8GB of internal storage, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and a 5 megapixel one ’round the back. And of course, it runs Android 3.0 at a time when most other 7-inchers still tap out at Android 2.3 — possibly the reason it was delayed in the first place. There’s no listing on Walmart’s website just yet, and our tipsters indicated it wasn’t actually on display. Still, if we’re seeing a price and tag, that means we’re beyond the point of any more delays… right?

Update: What you see in the wild is a display tag — not the elusive A100, of course. You can’t pop into a Walmart to buy one yet, but if that sticker is any indication, that’ll change soon.

[Thanks, Mat and Jared]

At the moment, there are two very similar-looking e-readers with black-and-white Pearl E Ink touchscreens on the market, and now, the smaller and less expensive of the pair is up for grabs. The Kobo eReader Touch Edition went on sale today in the US and Canada for $129.99 (or $139.99 Canadian Dollars) at Best Buy, Borders, Walmart, and the Canadian bookseller Indigo. If you’ll recall, the 6-inch Kobo is thinner, lighter, and more compact than the Nook Touch, even though its screen is the same size. It also undercuts it by $10 but, there’s only 1GB of internal memory reserved for book storage. Could these trade-offs be worth the trimmer design? We’ll leave that to you and your wallet (and the guy who may or may not receive this as a last-minute Father’s Day gift).
